About

Sisters Alyson Renae Michalka (born on March 25, 1989) and Amanda Joy Michalka (born on April 10, 1991) were both hailed in Torrance, California but raised in Seattle, Washington.

Both developed their passion for music at a very young age and continued enhancing the gift by learning the piano and later the guitars while busied their hands at composing songs.

Their road to stardom took place when Alyson landed a part on Disney Channel's Children Series, Phil of the Future as Keeley Teslow, where she showcased her singing and acting prowess.

She also performed a song for Walt Disney Records entitled Jingle Bell Rock in 2004's Radio Disney Jingle Jams but this time with her sister, Amanda under the moniker Aly & AJ.

This set of Disney performances was even followed by another Disney compilation album called DisneyMania, Vol.3 where they sang out Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah.

They had performed a series of Disney collaborations before they finally signed to their major label, Hollywood Records (a label owned by Disney).

Into the Rush was their debut album under the label released on August 16, 2005.

One of the album tracks called Rush gained incredible results as it placed the 24th rank on The Billboard Hot 100 Digital Songs and 44th on Billboard Pop 100 as well as the album itself to placed at top 40 on the Billboard 200.

Due to the album's success, the duo released a deluxe edition of the album on August 8, 2006 packed with a remixed version of two previous tracks and three all-new songs entitled Shine, Never Far Behind and Chemicals React.

Eventually, the album reached the Platinum status on May 2007.

After the initial album's success, the duo swiftly launched their holiday album entitled Acoustic Hearts of Winter on September 26 that same year followed by their sophomore record, Insomniatic on 2007.
