About
Alison Krauss was born on July 23, 1971. As a child she was musically skilled. At the age of 5 years old, she started playing the violin and took classical lessons. When Krauss was 8 years old, she started joining talent shows. Krauss even started her own band. At the age of 12, she became Illinois State Fiddle Championship. Krauss was also named as Most Promising Fiddler by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass in America. In 1985, at the young age of 14 years old, she signed in with Rounder Records.
In 1987, her debut album, Too Late To Cry, was released. She was backed up by her band, the Union Station (guitarist Jeff White, banjoist Alison Brown, and bassist Viktor Krauss). In 1989, Krauss and her band issued the Two Highways album which was nominated for Best Bluegrass Recording at the Grammy Award. In 1990, I've Got That Old Feeling became a breakthrough album. In 1992, Every Time You Say Goodbye was an album influenced by the Beatles and Shawn Colvin. It entered the Country Album Charts. The 1994 album I Know Who Holds Tomorrow was a hit but it was Now That I've Found You: A Collection in 1995 that made her famous. In 1995, Krauss and the Union Station surprisingly released a successful album, Now That I've Found You with So Long and went double platinum. In 1997, So Long, So Wrong reached the gold status. Followed by another gold album, Forget About.
