About

Alicia Keys (Alicia Augello Cook) was born on January 25, 1981 in Manhattan, New York USA. At a very young age, Alicia already showed her interests in music. Her aspiration to become a great performer has led her to taking piano lessons. And with her mom’s unconditional support, she has bloom into a remarkably talented pianist that she is at this time.

At age seven, she began playing piano and learned classical music by some of her favorite composers. Seven years after, she had already written her very first composition, “Butterflyz”. Eager she is to pursue her craft; she then enrolled in the Manhattan’s Professional Performance School and took a major in choir. Under the guidance of one of her instructors, her voice was developed and she further grew as a multi-talented artist.

It was in the year 1998 when a major record label discovered her astounding talent. But for some reasons, it never materialized until she signed with Arista Records. After a year, she decided to join Clive Davis in his newfound record label, the J Records. Clive Davis has given her the opportunity to grow and prosper in the music industry. Through continuous and exceptional collaboration, Alicia Key’s album Songs in Minor was finally released. It was a tremendous success and had given her five (5) Grammy awards in 2002.

After the success of her first album, The Diary of Alicia Keys was released in the late 2003. This album has shot straight up to the Billboard R&B charts and gave her additional Grammy Awards which include Best R&B Album for The Diary of Alicia Keys, Best Female R&B Vocal Performer for “If I Ain’t Got You", Best R&B Song for "You Don’t Know My Name" and Best R&B Duo or Group with Usher Raymonds, “My Boo”.

Alicia Keys..Active On Safe Sex...

Recently, Alicia has been very active on promoting a safe sex. She is urging girls not to sleep with their boyfriends without using contraceptives like condoms. In addition, she also said that girls should not also have sex with guys who tell that condom doesn't feel the same. She also added that those guys who tell that stuff are true liars because there are varieties of condom available in the market today that will make them feel comfortable. These are the type of condoms that are thinner, prettier and have extra fiction action.
