About
Alanis Nadine Morissette simply known as Alanis Morissette was born on June 1, 1974 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to a Roman Catholic family. At an early age of seven, she begun writing songs to release and indie single "Fate Stay with Me" using her pennies saved from her stint on the children's television show "You Can't Do That on Television".
With her credential as a young musician, in New York she landed a spot on Star Search, a popular American talent competition and used her stage name, Alanis Nadine. She flew to Los Angeles to appear on the show but lost after one round. Not giving up on her passion for music, she went back to Canada in 1990 and MCA records signed her a deal to release her first full-length self-titled debut album Alanis in 1991. The album was released only in Canada and then went on to be certified double platinum. The first single "Too Hot" reached the top five on the Canadian singles chart. Her second album, Now Is The Time was still released only in Canada.
And on 1995, found her conquer the world with her first album that was released worldwide Jagged Little Pill where it became one of the only three albums to chart top ten on the Billboard 200 for one full year.
