Alan Eugene Jackson was born on October 17, 1958 in the small town of Newnan, Georgia. As a child he sang gospel songs in the church and at home. In his teen years, he performed as a country duo and dropped out of high school then married his high school sweetheart, Denise. In the 1980's Jackson went through a lot of jobs such as: a car salesman, construction worker, forklift operator at K-Mart. He composed songs at his free time. He also had a band, Dixie Steel, who played at a local bar. Fate had its way when Denis was a flight attendant on the plane with country singer, Glen Campell. She gave him Jackson's demo tape, Campbell gave a name of a record company and instantly Jackson left for Nashville. In 1989, he signed in wth Artista Records.
