Akon is an American Hip-Hop and R&B artist. He had released two albums namely Trouble and Konvicted which became a huge success.

About
R&B artist, Akon was born on October 14, 1981 in St. Louis, Missouri. His birthname is Aliaune Thiam. Akon was raised in Senegal and later on settled in New Jersey. Akon was in trouble with the law and was eventually jailed. While doing his time, he worked on musical ideas. He recorded his tracks in a home studio. Universal Records signed Akon and released his debut album, Trouble, in June 29, 2004. The album featured some hit singles such as "Locked Up", "Belly Dancer", "Ghetto" and "Lonely".
In 2006, his follow up album, Konvicted hit shelves. He worked with Snoop Dogg and Styles P in this album. Mid-2006, Akon and Eminem released the single "Smack That" peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single was nominated for "Best Rap/Sung Collaboration" at the Grammy Awards. The album sold over 300,000 copies. Akon is featured in Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's "Never Forget Me" and Gwen Stefani's "The Sweet Escape".
