Aesop Rock is an American Hip-Hop Artist who rose to fame via his album, Labor Days.

Aesop Rock or "Ian Matthias" in real life was born on May 11, 1976 at Huntington, Long Island, New York and was raised in Northport, New York. He studied in Northport High School. He took the course of Painting at Boston University. He released two independed EP albums entitled, "Music For Earthworms" in 1997 and "Appleseed" in 1999. After signing a recording contract under Mush Label, Aesop issued his first studio album, Float in 2000. After the released, he signed a recording contract under Def Jux Records. He released his next album, Labor Days in 2001. The album features the single, "Daylight" which chartered at #15 on Top Independent Albums Chart. His next album, Bazooka Touch was released in 2003. The album landed at #7 on Top Independent Albyms Chart and #1 on Top Heatseekers Albums Chart. It features the singles, "No Jumper Cables" and "Freeze". He released another EP on February 2005 entitled, "Fast Cars, Danger, Fire and Knives". In 2007, he released his latest album, None Shall Pass.
