Ace of Base began in Gothenburg, Sweden on 1987. The line-up consists of Jenny Berggren (vocals), Linn Berggren (vocals), Jonas “Joker” Berggren and lf “Buddah” Ekberg. The quartet signed with Mega Records in 1992, releasing their debut single, “Wheel of Fortune”. It was a smash hit all over Scandinavia. The single “All That She Wants” was released bye Metronome Records which is a German-based label. It sky rocketed in Europe and 10 other countries. The music video of the single received much airplay on MTV. In 1993, Ace of Base issued their debut album, Happy Nation, in Europe. When “All That She Wants” landed in America, the single went platinum. The band released The Sign (another version of the Happy Nation) in the US. It sold over two million copies in the us alone. The band dominated the US music airwaves with the singles, “All That She Wants”, “The Sign” and “Don’t Turn Around”. By the end of 1993, the album has reached over 8 million sales. Ace of Base took home three Grammy Awards.

In 1995, Ace_of_Base released their follow-up album, The Bridge. The album went platinum but did not reach much success as of The Sign. The band went on a hiatus for three years and came back with Cruel Summer in (1999), Greatest Hits (2000) and De Capo (2002).
