About
The album was released through Def Jam Records on April 25, 2006. In this album the lead single "SOS (Rescue Me)" had achieved considerable airplay throughout the United States and Canada where it reache high peak positions on the charts.
Rihanna stated that she tried to incorporate more rock music in the album and true enough this sound has been showed on the song "Kisses Don't Lie". Overall, Rihanna had showed maturity in the album by the numerous heartbreaking ballads included, all of them elegant and displaying artistic growth.
At the beginning the album started as a very modern, exciting fashion rhythm with "SOS", a sexy club tune followed by the reggae of "Kisses Don't Lie". Later, the album gets bolder and seamlessly bounces from music to another as "Unfaithful", "We Ride", "Final Goodbye", and "Break it Off".
The album debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 with 115,000 copies sold in its first week, nearly twice the debut sales of Music of the Sun. It also debuted at number six on the UK Album Chart with 24,000 copies sold that week. The album sold 193,000 copies worldwide in its first week of release, and has shipped over 2 million copies worldwide.
