About
Pop sensation A*Teens started in 1998 at Stockholm, Sweden. Amit, Dhani, Sara and Mari called themselves ABBA Teens. They later on changed it to A*Teens to avoid confusion with the legendary ABBA. In 1999, the group released their debut album, The ABBA Generation, with the lead single “Mama Mia” which topped the charts in ten countries. A*Teens did a remake the 1985 “Dancing Queen”. It sold over 500,000 copies. The band toured with N*Sync and Britney Spears.
In 2001, the A*Teens issued their follow-up album, Teen Spirit. In 2002, A*Teens went back to the studio to work on their third album. In June at the same year, the band released their first single of their third album, a remake of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love”. It was included in the animated film Lilo & Stitch. It was soon followed by “Pop ‘Til You Drop!”.
In 2003, the band released their 4th album, New Arrival. Some of the singles of the album was written by the member’s of A*Teens. The band became a huge hit! They had endorsements from Popdrinks in Sweden. In 2004, the A*Teens released their Greatest Hits compilation. The album was not as big as the others since it had the least amount of promotion. On April 15, 2006, the member of the A*Teens officially announced that they would part ways.
Dhani Lennevevald is pursuing his solo career. In 2005, Marie Serneholt also released her debut-single “That’s The Way My Heart Goes” under Sony BMG. Amit Paul also released “Songs In A Key of Mine”. Sara Lumholdt released a remake of Olivia Newton’s “Let’s Get Physical”.
