2001 is the second solo album released by the hip-hop rapper Dr. Dre. The album sold 10 million copies worldwide making it as the best selling album by Dr. Dre.

2001 was released on November 16, 1999 under Aftermath Records. The album is sometimes called Chronic 2001, Chronic 2 or Dr. Dre 2001. The album topped no.2 on the Billboard charts for three weeks and was Certified 6x Platinum in U.S. The album also peaked no.1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album Chart. The other performers in the album are Xzibit, Tray DeeeDevin, The Dude, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Hittman, Kurupt, Nate Dogg and Mary J. Blige. Dr. Dre faced plenty of charges for this album. George Lucas filed him for using the THX Deep Note in the album's intro. Minder Music Ltd. won in a federal copyright lawsuit against the rapper, for stealing from a 1980 tune called "Backstrokin'".

The first hit single in the album "Forgot About Dre" with Eminem hit the Top 40. The second single "Still D.R.E." reached no.32 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles and Tracks and no.11 on the Hot Rap Singles. The third single "The Next Episode" reached no.9 on the Hot Rap Singles and no.23 on the The Billboard Hot 100. The album reached U.K. Top 40 R&B albums at no.21 in March 2006.
